1968 Malibu drive train

The original engine in this 1968 Chevelle Malibu was a 307. That was coupled to a two speed power glide automatic transmission. The rear end was a 10 bolt non posi with a 2.73 ratio. When I got the car the two speed power glide was still installed but it was coupled to a 2.56 ratio 10 bolt non posi rear. In the storage room out back was a 1969 350 unstamped motor that was completed dismantled with a small amount of surface rust.

Out with the old

Well that drive train obviously was not going to cut it. At least if it was original it might be worth thinking about using it but a two speed?

In with the new (well newer)

New change in plans, the LT1 is out of here and the 700r4 and 10 bolt rear end will soon follow

We chose a drive train from a mid 80's Monte Carlo, well at least that was what it was in. It is actually a LT1 350 from a 1994 Corvette coupled to a 700R4 overdrive transmission. We picked up some new gearing to make the 10 bolt a Posi unit with a 3.73 ratio. Of course we will be using four wheel disc brakes and did I mention the airbag suspension?
